Flist has been rather quiet lately. Did all of you go out and get lives and not tell me?

I just wanted to say how happy I am that tv is back! I missed new tv SO MUCH! I loved Bones last night spoiler! )

I also enjoyed America's Next Top Model, even though it is now clear that Tyra is BATSHIT INSANE! I mean, more insane than last year, and I wasn't sure that was possible. The whole thing with them being robots, and the effects that look like they were produced on a 1992 PC, and she said "Beam us up, Fiercely"!!! WTF??? Girl is off her rocker, but I still love this crazy ass show. Also, Nigel Barker is the sexiest photographer ever. He can take my picture any day, if ya know what I mean.

They are going to start So You Think You Can Dance Canada soon, and I'm not sure what I think of that, because I love the dancing but I HATE the host so much. I can't remember her name, but she's a moron from Much Music (because if you're keeping track, MM only hires morons for on air - I once saw a promo for a show where she said "Remember, if they're not on this list, then they're not on Much Music's list of the 20 hottest stars!" Uh, yeah, because that's what not being on the list means. MORON!) Anyway, she is no Cat Deeley (sp?) but I guess I can always mute her parts, or PVR and just watch the dancing. They've been running some really rockin promos. Blake McGrath, the first SYTYCD winner choreographed them, and I swear the budget for these commercials must be more than our news budget for an entire year. Thanks CTV! Here, watch:

I apologize if the Pussy Cat Dolls is now in your head. That's just wrong.

If you're bored, check out my etsy store. Tell me what you like. Tell me what you don't like. Feel free to buy something. ;) Christmas is coming after all... in three months. How scary is THAT!?

I stayed at home sick today. It sucks... it's gorgeous outside, but my throat is sore and I'm all congested. And totally whiny. In case you hadn't noticed.

But I got some new beads this week, and they're STUNNING and they were expensive and I shouldn't have bought them... but I did, so I'm sharing the pretty with you!

This is all it took to win my teenaged heart.

You'll be missed Heath.

Today is [ profile] mspooh's birthday! Pooh, you are one of my favouritest people in the whole wide world, and I hope that you have a super amazing day! Just remember, thirty and flirty and thriving! *mwah*

PS - NO!

I am here in Detroit, and [ profile] aliasrlm and I are sitting on the couch watching French Kiss, which we both love despite Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline's Faux French accent.

Last night we went out and had a lovely Italian dinner with too much wine. While we had grand plans of going out and painting the town red, we ended up on the couch watching Intervention and South Park's take on 24. "Why do you think I'm talking like this? In a whisper, but a really loud whisper for dramatic effect!"

Today's plans... eating bagels that her man is currently out buying us, shopping, and then Blades of Glory! "I see you still look like a 15 year old girl, only not hot!" Awe-some. If it's half as good as Anchorman, it'll still be a riot.

Fandom news of the day, S2 of SGA showed up on my wishlist at the used CD store in town. I'm on a real SGA kick, especially S/W fic, which I can't stop reading. No comment on any spoilers.

Back to coffee.

I'm off to Detroit to see [ profile] aliasrlm and it's not a moment too soon. I need a vacation, even if it is just 3 days away from here. I'm looking forward to good food, good wine and fantastic company. And probably some Kiefer lusting.

Here's hoping that some time soon we can do another, larger freakfest. *hugs to all*

I just downloaded the last SG1 ep in record time. I think it only took about 2.5 hours, maybe less... I'm just trying to work up the courage to start it.

I feel like crying. And I feel really silly for wanting to cry. I'm going to blame it on the glass of wine I had. Yes, the wine. Well really, I am a shameless floozy. Ask anyone.

Ok, popcorn. More wine. Then watch. With my door closed so that if I end up sobbing my roommates won't hear.

Wish me luck.

We covered a news story today that I haven't been able to get out of my head. It's so disgusting and horrible, and I just need to rant on it for a minute. You can read the article here but I will sum it up in my completely biased ranty way.

Four teenage idiots were at a party this weekend. Two 18 year old boys, and two 17 year old boys. And what's a teenage party without sex? But I guess these guys found it hard to get girls through the usual methods, so they roofied a 16 year old girl. And since nothing says you're a sex god like giving it to an unconscious girl, these assholes decided to take pictures and videos with their cell phones so they could relive the moment over and over. And show all their friends, because again, having sex with someone who can't BLINK let alone say no means you're a stunning example of manhood.

So this girl comes to school on Monday, where one of her friends pulls her aside and shows her some of the pictures that are going around. Of these 4 guys raping her. This is the part I love... they probably could have gotten away with it... Apparently the girl didn't realize what had happened to her, which would be hard since she was unconscious. So if they'd just kept their mouths shut, and their phones in their pockets they could have gone on living their dirty rapist lives like nothing had happened. Thankfully for society, these boys are fucking idiots.

What I really, really love is that they're throwing the book at them. They're not talking a slap on the wrist. Their lawyer was going on today about how they've "never been in trouble before" well boys, you're in trouble now. I am SO PROUD of the DA, or the cops, or whoever it was who came up with these charges, because not only are they being charged with sexual assault, but hey, 16 year olds? Still minors. As in children. So taking pictures of them of a sexual nature? Yeah fuckers, that's child pornography. They've been charged with possession of child pornography, making child pornography and distributing child pornography. I hope they try the two 17 year olds as adults. And the two 18 year olds? Well they're fucked. I hope they enjoy prison, and get put with nice, big, mean, horny old men. Since they're so cool with rape, I can only hope that they get to see the other side, without the benefit of drugs leaving them memory free.

Sorry for the rant... I just needed to get it out of my system.

It's not a good sign when you're having a bad day and it's 6:00 am. I'm working the 6 to 2 shift this week. So I pop out of bed at 5:15, and find something to wear. I go with a purple V-neck sweater I got at Old Navy that looks awesome with my Magneta Lane t-shirt under it. I love the sweater because it's cozy and the sleeves go to that perfect length, right to the middle of your hand. Or at least they used to, before I put it in the dryer a couple days ago. Now the sleeves hit at that awkward 1 1/2 inches before my wrist. Seriously, how did the sleeves shrink 5 inches?! I swear I've put it in the dryer before... anyway, Bad day = 1, Steph = 0.

So me and my shrunken sweater head out to the car. I start it up, and get out of the car and leaned down to reach into my back seat and pull out the scraper to wipe the snow off my car. Except while doing this I somehow manage to bang my mouth into the thingy on the front seat that the seat belt feeds through. Hard. I now look like someone punched me in the mouth. It split my lip, and it's all swollen. Bad Day = 2, Steph = 0.

I get back in my car, lip throbbing, and drive off to work... and my driver's side door swings open. While I'm driving. Apparently the catch that holds the door closed is frozen open. So I had to drive to work with one hand on the wheel, and the other holding the door closed. I still hit the Tim Hortan's drive through, because there was no way I was skipping coffee when all that happened to me before 6am. Bad Day = 3, Steph = .5 (for navigating drive through)

I was explaining all this to my co-worker this morning and he said "well at least it can't get any worse" which of course means that something worse will happen. I will keep you posted.

In other news, I haven't watched Veronica Mars yet, since I had to be in bed by 9 to get up so crazy early this morning. I liked Heroes, a lot. As for 24 )

I want to post some music later, so now that I've typed this in here, I will have to. [ profile] halfway2home has posted some awesome stuff lately, so I want to give her a few of my favourite instrumentals, as well as some Arcade Fire because they are so freaking good. Expect that sometime after 2pm(Eastern) when I'm home.
stephdub: (Default)
I did a little research this morning to see when my favourite shows are coming back, because I am tivo/pvr-less and actually have to program my VCR to tape things. On videotape! I'm so old fashioned! I figured I'd share in case anyone else wasn't sure about dates.

Also, if you didn't know (maybe because [ profile] mspooh didn't tell you :p) the first 4 hours of the new season of 24 are up for download. I haven't watched yet, but I can't wait. Plus this way I can re-watch this weekend when it airs for more Kiefer Goodness!

Tonight! House
Thursday Jan 11: Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural
Sunday Jan 14: 24 pt 1
Monday Jan 15: 24 pt 2
Tuesday Jan 16: NCIS
Monday Jan 22: Prison Break, Heros
Tuesday Jan 23: Veronica Mars

I can't find a date anywhere for new episodes of Bones, but I did hear a rumour that it's moving to Friday nights at 8pm, which kinda sucks. It's the only show I watch on Wednesdays, unlike Mondays and Tuesdays which are insane. Sometimes I think I should watch less tv... then I come to my senses.
stephdub: (Default)
In the past 4 days I've watched 24 episodes of House. For those of you playing the home game, that's about 6 episodes a day. Mind you, I only actually watched 2 today. I had to wait for my first half of season two download to finish. I was actually kind of happy I was sick this week, because the sick days on Monday and Tuesday really helped with the obsessive watching. Although watching a show about sick people when you're sick isn't the best idea I've ever had. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac. Since my doctor is a very nice, sweet man who looks nothing like Hugh Laurie I managed not to show up at his office.

Let's talk about that for a minute, shall we? My Hugh Laurie love is knowing no bounds. See, I had Hugh Laurie love BEFORE House. Really I did. He was my favourite character in Sense and Sensibility. My friends were all "oh, that Hugh Grant is SO CUTE! And FOPPISH!" and I said "Forget him, the bitter sarcastic guy who played the idiot on Blackadder is the way to go!" OK, I totally didn't say that. Actually, I was all about Alan Rickman in that film. I really do have a thing for older men, don't I? As a teenager I passed on Hugh Grant for Alan Rickman. I was kinda hoping he'd say "yipi-ky-a motherfucker" but that's a bit out of place in a Jane Austen story. This is the point where I should tell you that I drank some wine with dinner. Anyway, lusting wise it was Alan Rickman, but I loved Hugh Laurie, especially his plea to stay with Emma Thompson in the den of sickness instead of heading off with his annoying wife. Classic!

Even before that, I knew Hugh Laurie as the idiot Prince on series... um... 2? of Blackadder. Which if you've never seen, you need to see it. Wait! It was Blackadder 3. 2 was the one with Miranda Richardson, although Hugh Laurie made guest appearances as 2 different characters. If you like British comedy, you have to see Blackadder. Rowan Atkinson at his finest, forget all that Mr. Bean crap. The point of all this rambling is that I love Hugh Laurie and I'm glad he's come back into my life again.

But what is wrong with all you people that you didn't make me watch House before? Clearly anything that sarcastic I will like. Ooh! Know what else? General spoilers for House Season 1 )

OMG!!11teen! Itunes on shuffle just put on Elbow's cover of Teardrop. EVERYTHING IS ABOUT HOUSE!!!!

The last time I wrote this much about one show, it was when I hit full out obsession mode with SG1. I, unlike many other people I suspect, am looking forward to tomorrow's season premiere. By looking forward to, I mean looking forward to searching for a torrent, downloading it, and actually watching it sometime on Sunday. I really, really wish that we got SciFi network in Canada. Or that Space would at least get to show the episodes the same time that they run in the US. I guess we get Atlantis first don't we? Which would be great, if I watched Atlantis. Actually, I downloaded the second season, since I caught most of the first. I was going to watch it but then I picked up a used copy of House, and we all know where that led to.

I need to get to bed. Tell me House things people! But remember I've only seen 2 episodes of Season 2.

Super Sekrit message to [ profile] mspooh: MONTREAL! EEEEE!!!

Ok, so that wasn't so secret. Anyone want to come to Montreal with [ profile] mspooh and I? Labour day weekend. Please be sure and spell labour right.
stephdub: (Jack&Daniel - Brandinsbabe)
I had the WEIRDEST dreams last night. In all of them, the world was ending in some way. Mass flooding, the atmosphere becoming depleted of oxygen, mass panic and hysteria. It was freaky. I mean, who has dreams like that? So yeah, no more reading about SG1 and the end of the world before bed. The freaky dreams didn't even have any Daniel in them. That's no fun.

Best part - My mom calls this morning, and I tell her about said dreams, and she says "Well the world's not supposed to end today, it's supposed to end June 6th." WTF? Apparently it's the whole 6/6/06 thing. I figure we'll be ok, since the world survived 6/6/1906. But usually my mom isn't so big on the whole DOOM thing. All of this has left me feeling vaguely creeped out today. Just thought I'd share.
stephdub: (Default)
Last night I fell asleep while watching 24. FELL ASLEEP! 24!! What is the world coming to? I thought I was enjoying the episode but the last thing I remember )

Meanwhile, over at Fox River some stuff happened... )
On a mildly related note, the guy at work who is a total slightly older Wentworth Miller look alike resigned today. The eye candy level just dropped dramatically. Le sigh.
stephdub: (Default)
Apparently I haven't updated in two months. Bad LJer! Bad! I have no excuses, so I'm not even going to bother.

It's Christmas Eve, and today is hands down my favourite day of the year. I spend Christmas Eve at my parents place. We sit around, and drink too much, and eat way too much and just spend the time together, my parents, my brothers and I. It's this lovely peaceful day before the craziness of the big family gatherings on Christmas day. Tonight we'll probably watch some of our "family Christmas movies" which in your house may be It's A Wonderful Life or something similar. Not us, we gather and watch The Ref (my all time favourite Christmas movie) Bad Santa, and maybe even Die Hard.

I'm heading over there in a few hours. I'm going to attempt to make cranberry sauce today. I've never done this before, but it looks pretty easy so I'm hopeful it will turn out. And since my mom is the only one who really likes cranberry sauce, if I destroy it, no big deal. I did manage to make some yummy whipped shortbread cookies yesterday that turned out perfectly. I was very impressed, if I do say so myself.

So to all who celebrate, a very very merry Christmas. Much love to you all.
stephdub: (Default)
I am so freaking excited I can barely contain myself. I'm doing a lot of bopping, and leg twitching and clock watching. I have three more hours of work left, and then it's drive to the airport, hop on a plane and meet up with [ profile] mspooh and [ profile] trixalicious in New York City. I've never been before, and I'm flipping out I'm so excited. Did I mention that I'm excited? Cause I'm hella excited. And thank god, I got paid today so I can shop and buy things without feeling too horribly guilty. Man, I love credit cards.

Random note to Pooh and Trix - I called the hotel to confirm our reservation, and make sure they knew we'd be a late check in, so all is good. They won't be giving our room away on us.

I'm hoping to be able to leave work a bit early this aft to give me some more time at the airport, but that might not happen. The Prime Minister is in town today, and everyone's all freaking out about it. I can't bring myself to care about the news at all today. NEW YORK CITY! I've never been before. [ profile] mspooh keeps telling me it's really cold, but a quick look at the weather forcast makes me think she really doesn't understand what the word cold means. High of 17? (That's 62 in American) That's practically balmy by Canadian standards.

EEEEEE!!! Did I mention I'm SO EXCITED?????!! Have a great weekend everyone.
stephdub: (Default)
First, I watch the Buffy episode "Fish" starring one lovely and beautiful Wentworth Miller, currently of Prison Break fame. And now Lynette is dancing on a bar to Boogie Shoes, and I found myself waiting for Dan and Casey to appear. I love it.

Super sekrit message to [ profile] mspooh - I know you were all over that too! FIVE MORE DAYS!!!
